Undesired

This video explores the life of Indian women and what their life's are like being seen as unimportant beings, and only needed to reproduce. They are somewhat seen as machines, making babies is their job in life. Having a son is seen as a great accomplishment, but having a girl is almost seen as a sin, hearing that "Its a girl"is probably the worst thing a family could hear. This issue has become very important because thousands of babies are being aborted, abandoned, and beaten everyday based on their sex.

Indian women are pressured into having children, more exact sons. If they do not have a son they are considered useless, worthless. Men dont want to have daughters because then they will have to pay what you call the dowry. The dowry is money sent from the bride to the grooms family as a gift. About 7,000 girls are aborted everyday in India. Usually if they are born they are abandoned, or if kept are mistreated. Women are also considered a burden, they are not allowed to go to school, or have any job training. Women will never be able to earn their own income. A lot of peoples opinions are that if women are taught the same way males are, paying the dowry would be easier because the women would be getting paid as much as her brother. In some cases of marriage if the grooms family does not receive enough dowry they will burn the bride so their son can remarry and get more money.

I think this video is important because its uncovering and showing people like me who don't know much about other countries and cultures learn their way of life. I think this films uncovered silence would be how bad the violence and hate towards women are in India. I think that how they treat women is wrong. If us, as women, are the ones bringing men into this world, why are we being so mistreated and not given a chance to succeed and live a long happy life? After watching this video, I think that changing how people treat women is a step to living a better life in India.

  1. it is heart breaking, to know that everyday babies are aborted or abandoned just because they are not males. Good details were included and i definetly learned something new.
