I first moved to Bushwick, Brooklyn, when i was around 8 years old. I previously lived on Halsey street. Where I lived previously is only about 10 maybe 15 minutes away from where I live now. But these two neighborhoods seem so far way from each other. They look completely different. Where I live now, there's a lot more "go to places". A lot of stores, restaurants, and fast food places, so you never get tired of eating out. Where I used to live I can only recall a deli on the end of the block and a Chinese food restaurant on the opposite side, which was so small they didn't even have one table so you weren't able to eat inside. Even though there's not much of a time difference, the commute to school and other places in Manhattan takes less time.
Where
I used to live there were always block parties, and it was a
typically loud neighborhood, and we had very loud neighbors. I like
where I live now, its never really loud and when it is its usually on
the weekends. Its not a dangerous neighborhood
and our neighbors are very kind, and their not disturbing. Even though
there's not much of a time difference, the commute to school and other
places in Manhattan are less time consuming. I usually wake up around 6
in the morning and for now I take the J train to school because they
closed down the Knickerbocker train station for construction.
I
would say my neighborhood the majority of people are Spanish and Black.
So every block there's at least two bodega spots. There are also a lot
of Spanish restaurants. Around my block I have a C town supermarket, 6
Bodegas, 2 Chinese restaurants, a church, and 2 nursing homes for old
people. There are also so many hair salons in my neighborhood its crazy! I
have a park in the back of my building, everyone goes there to play
basketball, there's two different parts where people can play and
there's a handball court, a huge space to just do whatever like ride
your bike or skate. I love where I live now because I feel like I have
everything I would need in walking distance. The hospital isn't far away
just in case of an emergency, and there's a police station. I have
everything i need right here.
